ADVISRY
Atlanta, CommunityFounded in Sacramento by Keith Herron (Rooftop) at age 13 as a clothing brand, Advisry has grown into a multimedia brand that does it all -- producing films, releasing music, designing clothing, curating a radio station, creating album artwork, and pretty much anything else their creativity pulls them towards.
The brand thrives on the mixing and collaboration of the complimentary and diverse talent it has assembled. Each member brings their own interests and passions providing both inspiration and support to the other members. What results are beautiful projects that smoothly integrate different mediums and create robust stories for audiences to engage with on multiple levels. This collective spirit extends beyond creating excellent work. The element that truly links the clothing, the music and the visuals are the shared values between Rooftop, Glen the Saiyan (rapper/producer) and Brandon Lamont (DJ), who grew up together, learning from the same experiences but swapping takes and perspectives.
In working together, they amplify one another and epitomize the magic of a generation ready to leave their egos behind and work towards the betterment of the whole. For the group, there is a sense that if they aren’t making the work they want to see, they will not see it at all.
In “THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS: S7 Runway Show” we see this come to life. The clothing designed by Rooftop carries important themes of Black power, sustainability, and spirituality that are present in much of Advisry’s work. Much of the fabric used to create the pieces is recycled but incorporates a screen-printing method that the group wanted fans to be able to replicate to “create their own Advisry” at home. By imbuing each detail in the garments with a message or an idea, the work takes on a bigger responsibility which fashion has often avoided. In a time when much of the world was standing still, Advisry created an opportunity for growth for themselves and showed us how resilient and inspired our future could be if we invest in our community and common goals.
